Sounds like a two step, waltz, maybe even a ballad, contradanse or blues.
'Turned on' to cajun by accident by Beausoleil, Central Park, 1987 , I really never looked back. I got to meet Alphonse Ardoin, Dewey Balfa, Tracey Schwartz, Canray Fontenot, Al Berard, Delton Broussard and of course the great Mamou Playboys in 91-92 at music camp. The hidden Maritimer in me immediately loved the connection to the Acadian language echoing back to when I was a kid in Moncton. I always loved the warmth of the Acadian culture and the sweet accent of that french language. I often play with the fine singer/songwriter/musicologist Benoit Leblanc, Mike Reilly (way-down bass)(, Bernatette Fortin (fiddle player extraordinaire), sometimes Michael Ball, Jody benjamin (Incomparable Ball ? Cainiacs) and recently, Max McInnes. So he's adding a drum foundation to the ryddim. Not often enough do I get to play with (Lonesome) Pat Loiselle. We play mostly in the vicinity of Montreal and eastern Ontario/western Quebec, for at least 10 years..
