John MacKenzie,
66, is originally from Glasgow, but has spent
most of his life so far living and working in
many different places.
In the 60s he sang in folk clubs around the
London [UK] area, and ran a club of his own in
the late 60s, at the Coach and Horses pub in Kew
Green, near the world famous Kew Gardens.
During that time he did a recording for the BBC,
and was asked to record an LP, which somehow
never got made. He was recorded by a field
reporter for CBC at Cambridge Folk Festival, but
doesn't know whether it was ever used when it
got back to Canada.
In the 70s he gave up music and took up
trucking, and spent the next 18 years driving
around Europe.
Around 12 years ago, he bought a new guitar and
started back again, since when he has sung at a
few festivals, and various local venues.
He now lives in the Scottish Highlands 60 miles
north of Inverness, the Highland Capital.
Musically his tastes are eclectic, and he sings
anything that moves him.
He plays 6 & 12 string guitars, and a little bit
of harmonica.
