"The future of old-time banjo is in good hands!"

From Uncle Dave Macon, to Pete Seeger, to John Hartford; it seems that every generation has a performer who entertains and wows audiences with banjo in hand. To continue this passing of the 5-string torch, Montreal's own Terry Joe has emerged on the scene, frailing his long-neck Gibson banjo. An all-around entertainer who also accompanies himself with harmonica and even tap-dancing feet, his natural on-stage charm and exciting melodic clawhammer style will take you on an unforgettable musical journey

With a deep repertoire at his disposal - from old country classics and bluegrass breakdowns, to humorous ditties, fun kid's songs and a slew of well-crafted originals - this talented musician is always a favorite at workshops, children's stages and festivals. Fellow performers jump at the chance to share the stage with him due to his tasteful accompaniment and innate ability to improvise. He loves to make music and the joy that comes through in his playing and his captivating stage demeanor is nothing short of contagious.

A first-call side man for a number of Montreal's finest country, bluegrass and old-time bands, Terry Joe is now emerging in his own right as a solo artist. He will amaze you at the avalanche of notes he commands from his instrument and once people hear him, they'll be talking about "that fantastic frailing banjo player ya just gotta hear!" A Terry Joe "Banjo" show is a sing-along, clap-along, laugh-along good ol' old-time time!

T.J.'s debut CD, Mountain Calling, an eclectic mix of original material, has garnered much critical praise.

His banjo playing was featured on the award-winning animated short, Nibbles, by Chris Hinton.

Terry Joe took home the One-Fret-Less award at the Ottawa Folk Festival in 2005.

He was nominated for the 2007 & 2008 CCMA awards in the Specialty Instrument category.
